You can join in the fun as well, helping them to build an entire gaming ethos — including dice, game board and even a few unique characters. We’re sure the whole family will have a great time playing this game, which requires plenty of building and reconstruction. Here’s some information about one game we’re particularly fond of: Lava Dragon.
4.5 out of 5.0 stars
This is a race-type game where players try to be the lavagame first knight to climb a volcano and summon a dragon. It’s not that easy, though. The players must avoid the lavaas they climb, whilstalso trying to hamper their opponents’ progress. The clever and innovative Lego die ensures that no two games will ever be the same, so the children will return to this engaging game over and over. Lava Dragon is designed for 2 to 4 players, and a game takes just 15 to 25 minutes, so they’ll never get bored with drawn-out play. Lava Dragon is designed for children aged 6 to 8.
Part of the LEGO® Games product line, Lava Dragon comes with 1 buildable Lego® die, 1 rule booklet, 1 building instruction booklet and 4 LEGO® microfigures. The rules can change during the game, a surprising twist that keeps players interested and engaged. The LEGO® die introduces a random element that shapes game as play goes on. Essentially this is a strategy game based on throwing dice. Players face an additional challenge that requires them to build the game board from LEGO® components before play begins. Each player throws the die to determine whether his knight can move or a special action is required. Such actions include moving lava tiles or climbing ropes on the side of the volcano. Strategy comes in when players use these special actions to block the progress of other players. When the winning player reaches the top of the volcano, he or she stands their knight on the lava dragon and takes flight victoriously.
More Product Information:
Before starting the first game, players must build the volcano from the LEGO® pieces supplied with it. Once the volcano is complete, play begins. The instructions and rules are quite simple. Basically, each player adds colored tiles to the side of the LEGO® die as play progresses. This element of randomness ensures that no two games will ever be the same. True to the LEGO® gaming philosophy, the game is designed to allow players to create new rules, which they then can upload to the LEGO® games web site for all players to share.
You honestly can’t go wrong with any of these new, affordably priced LEGO® board games. Lava Dragon is our favorite, but at that price, why not try several of these intriguing kids toys?
